| Contra Loma Sketch Hike for August, 2003 |

| Contra Loma Reservoir is an East Bay Regional park that is located on the south eastern border of Antioch. There are a variety of subjects and scenes for a sketch hiker to choose from. Some of my favorite sketch subjects include trees, insects, flowers, fisherman when present, waterbirds and the rolling hills with their constantly changing shadows and light. During this hike some of the birds we spotted included a Loggerhead Shrike, Turkey Vultures, Red Tailed Hawks, Pied Billed Grebes, Cormorants and some Mallards. Having just acquired a new camera, I didn't do as much sketching as I would have liked to. |
